Striker nets Town leveller against Peacehaven

Hatters striker Paul Benson returned from paternity leave to score a header and earn his side a draw in a 1-1 draw at Peacehaven on Saturday.

The frontman was in the right place at the right time to nod home at the back post just before half-time.

Peacehaven had taken the lead shortly before the half-hour mark through Sam Shaarf's goal.

The Town dominated periods of the second period with Zane Banton, Luke Guttridge, Benson, Danny Green and Scott Griffiths all going close.

But neither side could find a winner and the game finished all square.

The Hatters gave the full 90 to Benson and an hour to new signing Magnus Okuonghae in defence.

Next stop: Gosport Borough on Monday.

Town: Justham, Griffiths, Okuonghae (sub Trotman 60), Williams, O'Brien, Lawless, Guttridge, Smith, Green, Benson, Banton.

Attendance: 350.
