Town confirm arrival of striker Jayden Stockley on loan

The Hatters are pleased to welcome striker Jayden Stockley on an initial one month’s loan from Championship promotion chasers AFC Bournemouth.

The 6ft 2in, 21-year-old forward arrives at Kenilworth Road in time to face Shrewsbury Town in Thursday’s live televised Sky Bet League 2 fixture.

Poole-born Stockley is a product of the Cherries’ academy and was first called up to the first team by manager Eddie Howe as a 15-year-old in 2009. He made his Bournemouth debut in November 2009 as a substitute and has since gone onto make a total of 22 appearances for the Dorset club, scoring twice.

Stockley has enjoyed a number of loan spells away from Dean Court, beginning at Dorchester in 2010/11, before joining Accrington in 2011/12, Woking in 2012/13 and Leyton Orient and Torquay last season. During his time with Woking he scored a header against the Hatters in a 3-1 win for the Cards on New Year’s Day 2013 – one of 14 goals he scored in 29 appearances for the Cards.

This season he joined Cambridge on-loan but was restricted to just four appearances and a total of 135 minutes with the Abbey Stadium outfit. Stockley got off to the perfect start with the U’s when scoring twice on his debut when coming on for the final 15 minutes in Cambridge’s 5-0 win over Carlisle. Both goals were headers.

After his loan spell at the Abbey Stadium was terminated early, he returned to Bournemouth and scored four times in two matches for the Cherries’ development squad including a hat-trick against Cambridge.

Stockley will wear squad number 25.
