Captain returns as illness eases boss selection plans

The Hatters will welcome back skipper Stephen McNulty for Thursday's live League 2 match with Shrewsbury Town at Kenilworth Road.

The captain, who missed last Saturday's game with Cambridge with a toe injury, is one of a number of Town players back in contention to face the Shrews. A number of the Hatters squad, including Nathan Doyle and Scott Griffiths, were unavailable through illness and should return on Thursday.

Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu came through 30 minutes at Cambridge and 45 minutes for the development squad on Tuesday unscathed, but manager John Still is unlikely to rush the midfielder back too soon so the former West Ham man may have to be content with a place on the Town's substitutes' bench.

New loan signing Jordan Stockley is in line to make his Hatters debut.

But Paul Benson, Alex Lawless, Curtley Williams and Luke Guttridge all remain sidelined.
