Town youth team hammer MK Dons

The Town Under-18s continued their flying start to the season with an 8-2 win away to MK Dons on Saturday morning to make it four wins from four matches.

Paul Driver’s side were 3-0 up after 11 minutes and 6-1 up at the break as they dismantled the Dons.

Jack Snelus opened the scoring after nine minutes when rifling a shot into the top corner and a minute later it was 2-0 when Alex Atkinson found the target.

Snelus struck his second and the Hatters’ third on 11 minutes before George Murray made it 4-0 half-way through the first period when quickest to react to James Justin’s parried effort.

Milton Keynes pulled one back to make it 4-1, but the Town restored their four-goal advantage on 38 minutes when James Verney side-footed home after a well-worked short corner from Justin.

Justin then put the Hatters 6-1 up on the stroke of half-time when racing forward to round the keeper and tap home.

The Town had to wait until the 70th minute to score again when Justin fired home a low shot after the Dons failed to clear a free-kick hoisted into the box.

As the Hatters continued to press forward, seven became eight with 10 minutes left when Murray scored his second when he strode clean through on goal and finished smartly.

The Dons pulled a goal back with two minutes left to play to make It 8-2, but it made little difference to another comprehensive win for the Town youngsters who have now scored 20 goals in their first four matches this season.

Boss Driver told lutontown.co.uk: “It’s a good start to the campaign. We are creating chances and taking them. It’s good to be clinical but I think we can play better. We need to be more productive with the ball.”
The youngsters aim to preserve their 100 per cent record when they host Gillingham at Ely Way next weekend, kick-off 11am. Why not come along?
