Town Under-18s make it three from three

The Hatters’ Youth Team continued their fine start to the season with a comprehensive 5-0 win over AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday afternoon.

Paul Driver’s side came into the game having begun the campaign with victories over Barnet and Peterborough and it only took the Town two minutes to take the lead against the Wombles when James Verney tucked home Kavan Cotter’s cross.

The lead was doubled on 20 minutes when Jack Snelus thundered home an unstoppable 25-yard effort following a poor kick from the Wimbledon keeper.

As half-time approached the Hatters made it 3-0 when Verney raced onto a defence splitting throughball, rounded the goalkeeper and power home.

It wasn’t until the final 10 minutes that the Town extended their lead when George Murray helped himself to a brace.

Firstly the striker was able to get across his marker to sweep home from the edge of the box to make it 4-0, and with five minutes, left he completed the scoring when guiding home Freddie Hinds’ off-target effort.

Town: Gooch, Bean (sub McJannet 65), Famewo, Musonda, McGhan-George, Justin, Atkinson, Cotter (sub Bakinson 75), Snelus, Murray, Verney (sub Hinds 55).

Subs not used: Jones, Shamola.
