STILL EYEING WITH THREE WINS FROM FINAL FOUR

Boss on Play-Off charge ahead of Daggers reunion

John Still believes the Town will need to win three of their last four matches in League 2 if they’re to stand a chance of reaching the Play-Offs.

The Hatters take on the boss’ old club Dagenham & Redbridge on Tuesday night before hosting relegation-threatened Hartlepool United at Kenilworth Road on Saturday.

A trip to promotion-chasing Southend follows the week after before the season ends with what could come down to a final-day-of-the-campaign showdown with Stevenage on 2nd May.

“I think we need to win three,” said Still at his Thursday press conference. “Whatever those three matches are we need to win three.

“It might be the first three or the last three. We don’t know, but 70 or 71 points should get us in there.

“You can never gauge it as teams can lose three as quickly as they win three, but you’ve got to look for that 70-to-71 point mark as that’s what I think.”

The Town could count themselves unlucky not to earn at least a point against league leaders Burton on Saturday, but fell to their 10th defeat in 12 matches despite an encouraging performance.

“Saturday was again a performance which I was happy with but we’re at the stage of the season where that’s not good enough,” said Still.

“It would be okay if we were early in the season but we’re coming to the end of the campaign where we need wins and we need points.”
