Shingles the latest set-back in midfielder's season

Alex Lawless' injury-affected campaign has taken another turn with the Welshman contracting shingles.

The condition will keep the midfielder out of Tuesday's game at Dagenham & Redbridge.

Lawless started just his seventh match in League 2 this term in Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Burton, before being withdrawn in the second half.

And manager John Still says the former York and Forest Green man's season has just been hit by one unfortunate circumstance to the next.

"He's had terrible misfortune," said Still at his Thursday press conference. "And so have we. If it's not one player, it's another."

The Town hope to have Jonathan Smith available after his partner gave birth to a baby girl on Saturday, while the Hatters' medical team will assess Scott Griffiths' fitness after the left-back came through 90 minutes at the weekend having delayed an operation on a hernia.

However the Town will remain without the services of goalkeeper Mark Tyler and midfielder Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu.

Stories and video from today's press conference will be published over the next 24 hours so keep it www.lutontown.co.uk.
