Statement in the wake of last weekend's incident

Luton Town Football Club were extremely disappointed that one of our supporters entered the field of play to confront a match official during last Saturday’s fixture against Burton Albion.

The supporter was apprehended by stewards and subsequently arrested and charged by the police and will appear in court at a later date.

We have also written to the supporter suspending him from attending home matches until further notice having been investigated by the Football Association as to how this pitch incursion took place and to establish what systems are in place to avoid any repetition of such events.

As part of that process we would like to remind all supporters that entering the field of play is an arrestable offence by law – this is not optional for the Club or police – and any supporter entering the field of play – in anger or celebration runs the very real risk of being banned from the Kenilworth Stadium for a lengthy period. Is it worth it?
