Town set to welcome back midfielder

Town boss John Still's mounting list of injuries looks set to ease ahead of Saturday's Sky Bet League 2 game with Oxford United at Kenilworth Road.

Midfielder Jonathan Smith, who missed last weekend's 1-0 win at Cambridge with a groin strain, has trained fully this week and is in contention for a return to Still's squad to face the U's.

The manager has questions marks over a number of other senior professionals, with a couple rated 50/50 of making a return to the squad for the visit of Michael Appleton's side.

Curtley Williams, Paul Connolly, Paul Benson, Alex Lawless, Jake Howells, Alex Lawless and Fraser Franks are currently sidelined, with latter two very unlikely to feature. Alex Lacey also picked up a knock in the week but should be available for selection.

Nathan Doyle played 70 minutes for the development squad against Portsmouth in the week, whilst winger Shaun Whalley played the full 90 and scored a penalty in the 2-2 draw and therefore comes into the manager's selection thoughts ahead of the Oxford game.

The whole of the manager's press conference will be available on Hatters Player on Thursday evening and Friday. Click here to sign-up.
