More goals for Town loan boys

Zane Banton and Lee Angol kept up their fine records in front of goal as nine members of the Town squad out on loan were involved this weekend.

Banton, above, netted Biggleswade’s winner for the second successive match in the Waders’ 1-0 win over Paulton Rovers in the Southern Premier. Ian Rees also featured in the victory.

It was a mixed afternoon for Angol, meanwhile, who opened the scoring for Boreham Wood at Havant & Waterloovile but was later sent-off for a second bookable offence as Wood went down 2-1 in Conference South. It was the striker’s eighth goal for the Hertfordshire outfit.

Meanwhile defender Mark Onyemah scored his third goal in a week for Thurrock in the Fleet’s 4-0 win at Aveley in the Ryman League.

Three Town players were involved in one game in the Conference Premier between Bristol Rovers and Dover. Dave Martin played 90 minutes for the Pirates, while Ricky Miller and Solomon Taiwo were in action for Dover, who scored a last-minute equaliser in a 1-1 draw.

Kynan Isaac came on as an early substitute in Oxford City’s 5-3 Conference North win at Colwyn Bay, but Danny Fitzsimons was on the losing side as Bishop’s Stortford lost 2-1 at Hayes & Yeading in Conference South.

Charlie Smith played 90 minutes for Hitchin but, despite setting up the Canaries’ goal, the Top Field outfit were beaten 2-1 at Hungerford.
