Town heroes from a past promotion on stage
Forty years after winning promotion to the top-flight, members of the Hatters’ 1973/74 promotion season are reunited at our Christmas Dinner this December.It was the second time in history that a Town team elevated themselves to the top division, and the heroes of that successful campaign are coming back to relive their memories of a season to remember.
The names in that Town side are still imprinted in Kenilworth Road folklore, and roll easily off the tongue: Alan West, Alan Garner, John Faulkner, Barry Butlin, Jimmy Ryan, Keith Barber – to name half a dozen.
Together with chairman Nick Owen, members of the squad will reminisce about that campaign, which saw the Hatters recover from a 4-0 defeat on the opening day of the season at Nottingham Forest to celebrate winning promotion in the dressing room bath at West Bromwich Albion with Eric Morecambe come April.
