Boss on Hartlepool trip

If the Town were to return from Hartlepool pointless on Saturday then John Still won’t be using the 450-mile round trip as an excuse.

The Hatters make their third-longest trip of the season aiming to extend their unbeaten run in Sky Bet League 2 to seven matches.

And while it can be easy for managers to reel off excuses given the distance of an away game, it’s not one the Town boss will ever wheel out.

“You can use all the excuses in the book, ‘it was because of this, it was because of that’ but at the end of the day if things don’t go to plan on Saturday travel will not be an excuse,” Still said at his Thursday press conference.

“It is a long journey, it’s not ideal, but 20 other clubs have to go there this season. You have to deal with it and get on with it.

“People who make excuses are people who want find excuses.

“We’re going up Friday. We’re having an overnight stay, we’re training on Friday, so we’ll prepare in the right way.

“We’ll be trying to find a way of winning, not trying to find a way of losing.”
