Midfielder's FA Cup aim
Jonathan Smith is aiming to continue his good record in the FA Cup as the Town prepare to face fellow League 2 side Newport County AFC in the first round on Saturday. After playing a part in the Hatters’ run to the fifth round of the in 2012/13, Smith – who has become a driving force behind the Town’s 10-match unbeaten run in League 2 – is eying victory against County.
“The aim is to get through but it’s going to be a tough game like they all are,” the 28-year-old said.
“We’ll definitely be up for the battle, especially with them coming to our ground. I fancy us against anyone at Kenilworth Road.
“The FA Cup has been an enjoyable competition for me in the past so I’m looking forward to that and getting through.
“I beat Norwich and Wolves with Luton, and beat Wigan and Derby when I was at Swindon so I’ve had a good run over the years.
“I like being the underdog and hopefully it brings the best out of all of us.”
