Striker's delight at first League strike

Scoring in the Football League was a dream come true for Ricky Miller after his goal against Tranmere on Saturday lifted the Town back to the top of the League 2 table.

“I’m absolutely ecstatic,” the 24-year-old told Hatters Player after he netted his first League goal in the victory over Rovers. “After coming on and scoring against Newport and doing it again this week for the winner, it’s a quality feeling.

“The gaffer just told me to go and make something happen and lucky enough I did.

“My first touch opened it up for me and I just thought to myself ‘why not?’ and luckily it went in. I think the spin of the ball was enough for it to go over the line.”

Miller returned to Kenilworth Road in mid-October after scoring five goals whilst out on loan at Dover.

And the former Boston striker believes that loan spell has given him a big boost in confidence.

“When I joined here the team were doing well and it was difficult to get in the team,” said Miller. “As the manager said to me, everything is done for a reason. I went out on loan and scored goals in the Conference. I’ve come back, scored a couple of goals and the manager’s shown that he’s got faith in me.

“I’ve done my job of scoring goals but the lads have made it easy for me…you work hard, do your bit and thankfully those goals have got us through in the FA Cup and sent us top of the league.”
