Campaign of celebration for Cedars Under-18s squad

In only their third season of existence the the Hatters' Cedars Under-18 Development Squad finished the season with an incredible five winners trophies, one runners-up spot and a cup quarter-final from the nine competitions entered.

The full roll of honour reads as follows:

Southern Counties Floodlit Youth League: Delphian Division - Winners.
Southern Counties Floodlit Youth League: Divisional Champions Play-Off - Winners
Southern Counties Floodlit Youth League: Colwyn Cup - Winners
Bedfordshire Schools County Cup - Winners
South Beds District Schools Cup - Winners
Football Conference Youth Alliance, London / South East Division - Runners Up

Head Coach Stuart Smith told lutontown.co.uk: “It is a truly incredible achievement by the lads the one frustrating factor is not winning our Regional Division of the Football Conference Youth Alliance.

“We dropped seven points all season and came second. Unfortunately when we needed just a point away to eventual winners Wealdstone a poor first 20 minutes cost us dearly. The remarkable thing is the nucleus of the squad is made up of first years and so the vast majority will have the opportunity to develop on this next season. I genuinely believe we can win  go on and win six, seven or maybe even eight trophies next year.

“The progressions technically, tactically and physically in this squad this year has been remarkable and while of course we are all about developing players ultimately results and trophies are the indicator of whether a group is progressing. The progress is through no small measure also thanks to Joe Deeney and Jordan McCann whose time and coaching expertise has been invaluable to the lads, who in turn has shown a great willingness to learn. We are looking to develop intelligent technical players who play the game n the right way but at the same time understand how to manage and win a game which is ultimately what the first team manager requires.”
