Manager on Grimsby victory

John Still hailed the performance of his players as the Hatters fought back from a goal down to win 2-1 at Grimsby on Tuesday night thanks to goals from Matt Robinson and Paul Benson.

The Town rode their luck at times, saw Mark Tyler make two superb saves but had chances to score themselves in match which swung from end-to-end in a pulsating 90 minutes at Blundell Park.

But, thanks to Benson’s 18th goal of the season, the Hatters came out on top to record victory and stretch their lead at the top of the Skrill Premier to 17 points.

“It was a fantastic away performance against a team that I think would possibly have looked at the table and thought if they had got a result and won their game in hand, could have put pressure on us,” said Still.

“In the situation that we’re in, with eight games to go, I think that was just fantastic.

Our game-plan was absolutely first-class. We felt they would try to cross lots of balls, so instead of playing one off the front-man, so we played Cameron McGeehan deep in midfield.

“From one to 11, it was a fantastic performance full of determination, effort, desire and quality.”
