The Hatters complete the signing of striker Ricky Miller on a free transfer

The Hatters have completed the signing of last season’s Conference North player of the year Ricky Miller on a one-year deal.

The 25-year-old finished top goalscorer in the division last term whilst on the books of Boston United, scoring 24 league goals as the Pilgrims finished in sixth place.

Miller netted 28 goals in all competitions, including two hat-tricks, and has also been on the books at Stamford, who he helped win promotion by scoring the winning goal in their Play-Off final triumph in 2013.

The forward, who was also Boston’s player of the year, arrives with a burgeoning reputation and Town boss John Still is excited about his latest signing’s prospects at Kenilworth Road.

Still told lutontown.co.uk: “Ricky reminds me of a Kevin Phillips-type striker in and around the box, sniffing out chances, and a Craig Mackail-Smith-type striker when he hasn’t got the ball, with his work-rate and enthusiasm.

“He’s a striker that likes to run in behind, he chases everything and puts defenders under pressure.

“I watched him last season and what really struck me was his enthusiasm. It really hit me. We kept an eye on him and we didn’t actually know at the time that he would be out of contract this summer.

“We’ve given Ricky a year and hopefully during that time we can see him develop further, just like a number of our other younger players.”

Ricky exclusively told Hatters Player: "I'm not just here to make up the numbers, it's my aim to break into the team. I've worked hard for this chance and I intend to take it."
