PUNTING PERSPECTIVE: NUNEATON

The Town are 2/5 to beat the Boro

You’d thinking backing the Town to win every week would be easy, wouldn’t you? Well no, it isn’t. Because, you see, those pesky bookmakers have cottoned onto the fact that Luton Town are doing quite well this season.

Take this weekend, for example. The Hatters host Nuneaton Town at Kenilworth Road on Saturday, a side just one point and three places outside of the Play-Offs. Yet those wanting to put their money on a home win are faced with odds of 2/5. Talk about being stingy. Don’t they know the Hatters haven’t played a league game in three weeks? Or that the Boro have won at Grimsby, Hereford, Macclesfield and Welling this season?

Anyone who takes a punt on the Town at those prices needs their head examining – and there’s no way we’ll plump for Nuneaton, even at 7/1 – so that requires a hunt around High Street bookmakers’ websites for some value. How about Nuneaton to lead at half-time before a resurgent Town storm back to take the three points? If only we could predict the future. However, at 25/1 that’s what you call a decent punt. After all, after almost a month without a league game, who knows what to expect…
