We cast our eyes over the Town's Trophy tie at Cambridge

Like it or loath it it’s Trophy time and the Town are already a hop, skip and jump from reaching its Wembley final.

To get to the last eight there’s the small matter of getting past a certain Cambridge United. A certain club whose manager has already gone on record to say that he isn’t particularly fond that Saturday’s game takes place on, erm, Saturday.

United already have three games to catch up on in the Skrill Premier and, while the Town are likely to make at least nine changes to the team that last played a league game, neither club really want a replay. Unless, you’re classed as a development player, perhaps.

So it’s probably a thought to lay the draw in hope that one side will score that all-important winner in the final seconds. At the very least it’ll save everyone at Kenilworth Road scrambling around on Sunday preparing for a last-minute replay to organise but, as John Still says, “we love the games”.

But whether there’s a goal in those dying stages, or both teams share 12 goals or not, there’s little doubting that – for a third round tie in the Trophy – all eyes will be on the Abbey Stadium on Saturday.

Luton are a best priced 15/8 to win on Saturday. Cambridge are 5/4 and the draw 12/5. The Hatters are 7/1 to win the FA Trophy. Cambridge are 5/1.
