What happened on this day in the Town's colourful history
There’s been a magnificent seven victories on 10th January down the years for the Town in the 16 matches played. A positive day in the record books.
The last game saw a win. The Hatters coming out on top against the Hatters. Stockport seen off 1-0 thanks to Aaron O’Connor’s goal in 2012 at Kenilworth Road. Hardly a classic.
That victory over County doesn’t immediately spring to mind in the greatest ever games in Luton Town Football Club’s history, does it? But what about the 4-2 win at Plymouth in 1948? or – more impressively – the 6-1 annihilation of Blackburn in the FA Cup in 1953? Perhaps you were there to witness the Hatters’ 5-1 thumping of Leeds at Kenilworth Road in ’59? They did happen. Honest.
So did, unfortunately, a 5-1 defeat at Shrewsbury, a 4-1 loss at Palace and, whisper it quietly, a 4-3 FA Cup exit at the hands of Watford. Well, you can’t have it all can you?
