Duo set to return but skipper suspended
Town boss John Still is set to welcome back Charlie Walker and Scott Griffiths to full fitness for Tuesday night’s FA Cup second replay against Bury on Tuesday night.
Griffiths was named among the Hatters substitutes for Saturday’s game at Morecambe but Walker missed out altogether after taking a blow to the head in training last week.
“We put Scott on the bench at the weekend, but didn’t train last week, but he’s available for Tuesday,” Still confirmed at his pre-match press call on Monday afternoon.
“Charlie took a bad whack to the head and missed a bit of training. The rules actually state that if you get concussed you have to wait a certain amount of time.
“We don’t know whether he was concussed, but in my mind I thought ‘no, I’ll leave him. It’s the boy’s health’, but those two would now be okay to take part.”
The Town will be without skipper Stephen McNulty who serves a one-match ban following his red card at Morecambe on Saturday.
And that leaves the door open for Alex Lacey – should the Hatters continue to employ a formation with three centre-halves.
The Hatters, though, will continue to be without Paul Benson, Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu, Luke Guttridge and Alex Lawless for the cup replay with the Shakers.
