Hatters youngsters victorious against Shrimpers
An 11th-minute winner from Geo Craig earned the Town Under-18s a 1-0 win at Southend this morning.
Craig struck a fine left-foot effort from the edge of the box into the top corner and the goal proved to be enough for Paul Driver’s side to pick up all three points.
Southend came into the game as one of the division’s form teams but the Hatters restricted the Shrimpers to few chances.
Goalkeeper Liam Gooch made one fine save, tipping the ball over from a shot in the second period - but the Town held on.
“It was a battle but it was a deserved win,” Driver said afterwards. “It wasn’t a classic by any stretch of the imagination but we took our chance, could have added to our tally and restricted Southend to very few chances.”
