Manager reveals sickness affects Town before Bury tie
Boss John Still was happy with the Town’s performance at Bury in the light of a sickness bug which affected the Hatters during the 1-1 draw at in the FA Cup.
After leading through Mark Cullen’s goal early in the second half it looked as though the Hatters had done enough to seal a place in the third round until Daniel Nardiello struck in the final minute to earn the Shakers a replay.
And Still revealed afterwards that several of the Town players were suffering from a stomach bug after the team’s meal before the tie.
“I don’t make excuses but we suffered sickness following our pre-match,” explained Still. “Mark Tyler, Nathan Doyle and Scott Griffiths all had it pretty bad.
“It caused us problems, but we battled hard away from home on a difficult pitch and I think we’ve done really well.
“I felt we were comfortable at 1-0. Bury put a lot of balls into the box and I thought we dealt with them well. But Ricky Miller’s given away a soppy free-kick and after that they’ve won another corner they’ve scored. If we don’t foul we don’t concede.”
