TOWN YOUNGSTERS PROGRESS IN LEAGUE CUP

12 August 2014

Bournemouth Under-18s 1-2 Luton Town Under-18s

First half goals from Ekene Amadi and Isaac Galliford sent the Hatters' Under-18s through to the second round of the League Cup with victory over Bournemouth.

Amadi slotted the Town in front after 20 minutes when he took a pass from Alex Atkinson to stride forward and round the goalkeeper.

A quarter-of-an-hour later the Hatters doubled their lead when Galliford nodded home inside the six-yard box following Atkinson's cross.

The Town youngsters spurned chances to go further in front and the Cherries pulled a goal back to ensure a nervy final monents but Paul Driver's side held out to record a second successive win this season.

Driver told lutontown.co.uk: "It was workmanlike rather than pretty. It was a hard-fought victory in which we grafted really well. We'll probably play better than that later this season and get beat."
