Still still without quartet

Town boss John Still is not expecting doubtful quartet of Alex Lawless, Jonathan Smith, Shaun Whalley or Andy Parry fit for Tuesday’s Capital One Cup first round tie at home to Swindon.

All four missed Saturday’s 1-0 victory at Carlisle, but the Hatters manager hinted he may tinker with the side slightly should he decided to have a look at another system.

“If I change the system then they’ll be a couple of little changes,” said Still at his Monday press call. “We’ve done some work in training today [Monday] and I’ll have a little think about it.

“I’ll mull over it tonight and decide tomorrow but if we don’t change the system it’ll be the same as it was at the weekend.”

Playing three centre-halves was popular at the World Cup and the Town boss admitted he wouldn’t be averse to looking into that system at Kenilworth Road.

“I played it a lot actually,” said Still. “The Conference side that won the Conference we played with three centre-halves and the two Barnet teams that got in the Play-Offs in this division also did.

“But it’s not all about systems, it’s about the players you’ve got and what their suited to. No matter what we do we’re covered.”
