STILL CONFIDENT OF SHREWSBURY RETURN

We're not 'unconfident' says the boss...

After their 1-0 defeat of Premier League Leicester City in the Capital One Cup, the Hatters’ opponents on Saturday, Shrewsbury, are sure to be confident of turning the Town over on home soil.

Typically, though, John Still goes into the game against the highly-fancied Shrews, believing the Hatters can return from Shropshire with all three points.

Indeed, when the boss was asked whether he was worried with the Town’s start to the season – which has seen them collect five points from the first four matches in League 2 – Still exclaimed: “We’ve only lost once!”

After overcoming a difficult opening series of fixtures which included Carlisle – just down from League 1 – Wimbledon, and Bury – one of the bookies’ favourites for the title – the only disappointment so far for the manager was the first 15 minutes at Accrington last Saturday.

And that aside, Still thinks there is much more to come from his team as he prepares the Town to face Micky Mellon’s Shrews at Greenhous Meadow.

“I think if your form is good and you’re getting good results, you go into games confident,” Still said at his press call on Thursday.

“We are not unconfident. We believe that we have parts of our game that are very, very good.

“We also think if we keep working hard, the not-quite-as-good bits will start to come together as we felt they did last year.”

The Shrews’ cup exploits during the week were well documented and Still is well aware of the threat Mellon’s side will pose the Town at the weekend.

“Shrewsbury we think will be one of the strong ones this season. They’ve started well, but obviously they have to maintain their form.

“They may be at the peak of their form at the moment. Our form is still coming together, so let’s have a look and see.”
