Boss remembers Braintree...

After five years away Football League action returns to what will be an emotion-filled Kenilworth Road on Saturday.

The Town host AFC Wimbledon – their conquerors in the 2011 Play-Off final – a week after their winning return at Carlisle on the opening day of the campaign.

But while there was no getting away from John Still’s excitement of the club’s big return, the Town boss is making sure his players don’t get too carried away by the emotion on the day.

“The lads have been looking forward to it and I would say the supporters have been looking forward to it even more,” Still said at his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon.

“I think everyone is quite excited. But we have to make sure that doesn’t spill over into what I call a ‘Braintree moment’ like last season.

“That day we’d all but won the league and there was a carnival atmosphere. I think players got caught up with that but I would like to think that won’t quite be the case on Saturday.

“What I do know is that it’s going to be a great occasion for the football club.”
