Team news ahead of Shakers' visit

Hatters boss John Still will not be rushing into selecting Jonathan Smith, Alex Lawless and Shaun Whalley for Tuesday night’s Sky Bet League 2 against promotion favourites Bury.

At his Monday press conference the manager confirmed that the trio are all back in the training but won’t be risked against the Shakers.

“It’s still early in the season, we won’t be rushing them back, we need to give them time,” explained Still. “Smudge and Alex are good players for us. Alex and Shaun are players that can go past people – and we missed that against AFC Wimbledon.”

Still will continue to be without the services of defender Paul Connolly, who missed Saturday’s game with a hamstring injury. “I wouldn’t think he’ll be fit for tomorrow, maybe Saturday,” said the manager.

Luke Rooney, however, is back in contention for a place in the squad after serving a one-match ban following his dismissal against Swindon in the Capital One Cup last Tuesday.
