Wall treble inspires Town dev squad against Chairboys

A hat-trick from Alex Wall helped a Hatters development side to a 6-1 win over Wycombe Wanderers in a friendly on Tuesday.

Wall’s treble included one from the penalty spot, and Town forward was joined on the scoresheet by right-back Curtley Williams and strikers Ricky Miller and Charlie Walker.

First team coach Hakan Hayrettin told lutontown.co.uk: “It was a hugely encouraging performance, especially when you consider that Wycombe are in the same league as us.

“We were slow out of the traps, but we did well to compete against good opposition. To score six goals against any team at any level is pleasing.”

The Hatters dev squad kick-off their campaign in the Final Third Development League against AFC Bournemouth at Kenilworth Road on Tuesday 9th September.

And Hayrettin is looking forward to seeing the team in competitive action.

“As far as we’re concerned nothing changes – the only difference will be putting points on the board,” the former Wycombe midfielder added.

“Our ethos has been, and always will be, to win games, to maintain a winning mentality, and prepare the players in the right way should the manager require players for the first team squad.”

Town dev v Wycombe: Justham; Williams, Franks, Lacey, Onyemah (sub Trotman), Trialist (sub Taiwo 72), Ruddock Mpanzu, Stevenson; Wall, Miller, Walker.
