The Town beat Grimsby Town 6-0 on this day at Kenilworth Road in 1981.

Four goals from Steve White and further strikes from Lil Fuccillo and David Moss completed the rout. The Hatters would end the campaign as champions of the old Division 2 (now Championship) and with it promotion to the top-flight.

The Town have won one and lost one against local rivals Watford on this date. A 0-1 home defeat in 1931 was followed a 4-1 victory at Kenilworth Road five years later.

Four years ago the Hatters won 1-0 at Altrincham thanks to a Tom Craddock penalty.
