Boss to ring the changes for Trophy tie

John Still has admitted that they’ll be a number of changes to the Hatters side that face Staines Town in the FA Trophy on Saturday.

Zane Banton is likely to begin in attack for the Hatters and Still hinted that a number of his youth team counterparts will also be involved for the first round tie at Wheatsheaf Park.

Members of the first team who have impressed in the development squad are also expected to feature against the Swans, including Jim Stevenson, David Viana and Matt Robinson.

“They’ll be changes,” said Still at his pre-match press call at the training ground on Thursday lunchtime. “It will be the players’ opportunity to put themselves in the frame to be a regular starter.

“Zane, Charlie Smith and Ian Rees may start but there’s the likes of Matt, David, Jim, Mark Cullen.

“They’ll be players that have done well in development squad games playing and it will be good for us to see what they’re capable of doing in a first team environment.

“They are players who we feel have a lot of ability and have been in or around the first team that will eventually go from being a development player to what we call a ‘regular’ first teamer. Saturday will show us what they’re capable of.”

Striker Alex Wall could return to the bench having recovered from his hamstring injury, while minor knocks rule out Andy Parry, Steve McNulty and Alex Lacey and suspension means Luke Guttridge is unavailable through suspension.
