SPILLER & AINGE LEAVE TOWN

4 July 2013

Midfielder and defender depart

Luton Town can confirm that defender Simon Ainge and midfielder Danny Spiller have had their contracts with the Club terminated with immediate effect.

Ainge departs Kenilworth Road having made 27 appearances in Luton colours. The 25-year-old signed for the Hatters last season from Conference North side Guiseley and scored two goals.

Meanwhile, 31-year-old former Gillingham and Millwall midfielder Spiller has been beset with injury since arriving at Kenilworth Road on a two-year contract last summer.

A number of operations aimed at relieving a troublesome Achilles injury have failed to help the player fully recover and, with the long-term prognosis of the injury showing little signs of improvement, both the club and the player have come to a mutual decision to terminate the contract.

Each party felt that this is the correct decision and the club would like to wish Danny a speedy recovery and all the best for his future footballing career.
