THREE UP, THREE DOWN

Supporters in the Kenilworth Road end will be asked to help display an important message shortly before kick-off on Saturday.

The club will be placing coloured cards for fans to hold aloft that will reveal ‘Three Up, Three Down’, a message Luton Town chairman Nick Owen hopes can instigate an increase in the number of promotion and relegation places between the Football League and the Blue Square Bet Premier.

“It has become quite apparent over the past decade that the Conference has become a real bottleneck for football clubs wishing and needing to progress,” said Owen.

“We are proud to be members of a League which is professionally run and which regularly produces high quality and exciting football being played by a host of professional clubs who boast attendance figures that would put several League sides to shame.

“We feel the current set-up of one automatic promotion spot could have potentially damaging repercussions on a number of clubs who drop down to this division – there have already been two cases of clubs dropping out of the Football League who have since dissolved.

“The quality of football, allied with the fact promoted clubs from the Conference continue their success once in League 2, is a clear indication that, year-on-year, the Conference is improving and we – Luton Town – believe that should be rewarded by the football family.”

The cards will be placed on all seats in the Kenilworth Road end and all we ask from supporters is that you make sure you keep your seat's colour and are sat down when you show the cards for maximum effect.

You'll be prompted by the stadium public announcement which will instruct you when to hold them up after the players have finished their handshakes with the opposition.
