Injury update from the boss

The Town will be without defensive duo Alex Lacey, Anthony Charles and midfielder Andy Parry for Saturday’s Skrill Premier game with in-form Gateshead at Kenilworth Road.

Lacey remains out with a metatarsal injury sustained in the 3-0 win over Southport whilst Parry is recuperating after a hernia operation.

And Charles, who played 90 minutes in last Saturday’s FA Trophy victory against Wrexham, won’t be risked against the Tynesiders.

“Andy’s operation has been quite successful, so I think we’re looking at four weeks for him,” confirmed the manager at his Thursday press call. “We’ll hopefully keep hold of the players that we’ve got on loan until the injuries that we do have, have cleared up, but we’ll have to see.

“Alex kicked the bottom of the guys’ foot and has had a little crack in the metatarsal, but it’s nothing serious.

“What we’ve done with him is be as cautious as we can be, because we don’t need to be rush him because of the loans we brought in.

“With Anthony we’re all really pleased that he played one on the trot which is very unusual.

“Hopefully we can take our time with him and give him enough training over the Christmas period.”

Striker Jon Shaw continues to make slow but encouraging progress on his recovery from a calf injury but won’t be fit in time to face his former club, whilst Solomon Taiwo and Danny Fitzsimons also remain sidelined.
