Much-changed line-up defeated
Ahead of Tuesday’s important FA Youth Cup tie with Stevenage a much-changed Under-18s went down 6-2 at Peterborough in the Youth Alliance League Cuo.
With the cup tie looming, boss Paul Driver used the game to take a look at a triallist and a number of Under-16s players whilst also giving game-time to players returning from injury.
Peterborough raced into a two-goal lead in the first quarter-of-an-hour but then Jemale McKenzie-Lowe pulled one back with a close range header. Two further goals from the visitors opened up a 4-1 lead for Posh at half-time.
A well-worked goal, started and finished by Zane Banton, gave the Hatters youngsters hope, but a strong Peterborough outfit added two goals in the last quarter of the game to run out comfortable winners.
Driver told lutontown.co.uk: "We made too many silly mistakes on the ball and they punished us every time unfortunately.
“However, we got minutes into the legs of a couple of lads coming back from injury and the Under-16 lads will only gain from the experience at this level."
