Midfielder on long road back from injury

You wait 10 months to get back into action but land up coming on for 30 seconds and don’t touch the ball.

But James Dance couldn't care less after making the long road back after a nightmare period of his career in Tuesday’s 2-0 victory over Nuneaton Town.

An ankle injury had kept Dance out of Hatters colours since an FA Trophy trip to Hinckley in January and, although his comeback appearance was a fleeting one, the 25-year-old was delighted to get back on the field in injury time at Liberty Way – even if he didn’t have a kick!

“I wanted to touch the ball, but it’s nice, I’ve been waiting for that moment for a long time now,” Dance said afterwards.

“It will be two weeks on Thursday that I’ve been back in full training, and it’s come quicker than expected, with the seven subs in the FA Cup. I wanted to play a bit longer, but it wasn't to be.

“The gaffer spoke to me nearly every day since being back, and he seems pleasantly surprised with how I’ve done in training given how long I’ve been out.

“So hopefully I can keep pestering him to put me on the bench.”
