The Hatters' Under-18s pre-season schedule began with a 6-2 win over Wingate & Finchley on Tuesday.

Jemale McKenzie-Lowe and Leeroy Magaraushe put the young Town side 2-0 up at the break.

Boss Paul Driver made eight changes at half-time and proceeded to score four further goals after the restart.

Zane Banton - with two - and further strikes from Arel Amu and trialist Matt Robinson made it 6-0.

Wingate, who fielded a team made up of players who had won the London County Cup last season, scored two late goals to the disappointment of the manager.

Driver told lutontown.co.uk: "The goals we conceded at the end spoilt an otherwise good performance. 6-0 would have been a fair scoreline so it's disappointing to come away having let in two goals.

"Wingate are a strong club for their level of football and had players who have enjoyed success at Under-15, 16 and 17 level last term.

"It was a good work out, though and we came through unscathed with no injuries.

"Our proposed friendly at Cambridge on Thursday has been postponed and next week we head to Sweden to compete in the Gothia Cup."
