David Preece Memorial Trophy to be contested at AFC Dunstable

The Hatters and AFC Dunstable are pleased to announce that Saturday’s friendly will played in memory of David Preece.

The popular midfielder, who made over 400 appearances in Town colours, sadly passed away in 2007.

And Saturday’s game at Creasey Park will see the two sides battle it out to lift the David Preece Memorial Trophy (pictured above) which will be presented to the winners post-match.

David’s sister Louise said: “We are really pleased that the two clubs are making this an annual event and honouring David in this way.

“David's untimely passing was on July 20th so the game honours him to the date. We would like to thank everyone involved and hope the day goes well.”

It promises to be a poignant occasion with the Hatters taking on AFC Dunstable for the first time at their newly-refurbished home.

Turnstiles open at 1.45pm ahead of the 3pm kick-off and entry is £6 for adults and £3 for concessions. For further information on the facilities available at Creasey Park visit www.afcdunstable.com.

Town boss Paul Buckle said: "The game will be played in memory of a Luton Town legend and we'll be doing everything we can to win.

"It will be a strong squad - the same that we took to Hitchin on Monday."
