MATCH PREVIEW | LUTON TOWN V NOTTINGHAM FOREST

1 November 2019

The Hatters are back in action at Kenilworth Road tomorrow as Graeme Jones’ side face Nottingham Forest.

Town are hoping to get back on track after defeat at Birmingham City, by securing successive home victories for the first time since February, after beating Bristol City 3-0 last time out.

Since getting three points against the Robins, the Hatters have suffered two narrow losses in succession and sit 19th in the table.

Nottingham Forest have also lost two games on the bounce, with defeats against Wigan Athletic and Hull City lowering their league position to tenth place.

With tomorrow’s game selected for live international broadcast, a live stream of the match will not be available on iFollow Hatters. Subscribers can tune into Simon Pitts’ full match commentary as always.

Prior to kick-off the Hatters will be marking Armistice Day with it being the last home game before 11th November. For more information on this, please click here.

GRAEME JONES SAID:

(Please note these quotes are taken from Graeme’s press conference on Friday)

On Nottingham Forest: “They’re a possession side, really good patterns of play on the ball, some outstanding individuals that we need to be aware of, I think that’s the big thing in this league. There are two or three players in Forest’s team that can really, really hurt you so we need to stop them and then on top of that, we need to be ourselves.”

On their stature and history: “He (Sabri Lamouchi) has got the players, they have spent a lot of money. There have players on big salaries so I think the different expectations are there for any club. We haven’t spent that kind of money, but the expectations are there in a different kind of way.

“Fulham have spent big money, they’ve paid big money and their expectations are different. You have to be realistic where you are and try to achieve those expectations no matter what football club you are at. You’ve got 23 other teams trying to stop you and there’s an opponent trying to stop you from achieving those expectations.

“It has never been an easy job Nottingham Forest, you’re talking about two European Cup wins less than 40 years ago. All of us here remember Brian Clough, Peter Taylor and Trevor Francis, they won the European Cup two years on the trot and that is how much they are steeped in history. But we’re not playing history tomorrow, we are playing another 11 and we need to see it that way.”

WHO?

Founded in 1865, Nottingham Forest have enjoyed plenty of success during their time as a football club. The two-time FA Cup winners (1897-98 and 1958-1959 seasons) won the first division in 1978 and in the following two campaigns, lifted the European Cup consecutively.
