Shandon Baptiste joined Luton Town as a free agent in the summer of 2024, following his departure from Premier League club Brentford.
The 26-year-old midfielder started his career at Reading at just seven years old after moving to the UK from Grenada, for whom he has three international caps, at the age of three.
He was released by the Royals at 15, but after a trial organised by a coach at the John Madejski Academy, he signed a scholarship with Oxford United in 2015 before turning pro two years later.
A loan spell with National League South side Hampton & Richmond Borough helped him eventually become a regular at the Kassam Stadium, and after recovering from an ACL injury, Brentford – the club he had suffered his injury against – came calling in January 2020.
He helped the Bees reach the Championship play-off final during the Covid lockdown period of 2019/20, but another setback with a torn lateral meniscus in his knee meant he made just one appearance in their eventual promotion in 2020/21.
Shandon pushed through though and went on to make 55 Premier League appearances for Brentford across three seasons, scoring his second top-flight goal against the Hatters last December before making the move to Kenilworth Road seven months later.
