Right-winger Shayden Morris has become the newest face to arrive at Kenilworth Road during the summer transfer window.
The 23-year-old arrives from Scottish Premiership club Aberdeen after a successful spell at Pittodrie.
Last term was a breakout campaign for the attacker as he played a leading role in the Dons’ Scottish Cup triumph and was named their Player of the Year.
But now Morris has set his sights on helping the Hatters return to the Championship.
The Town’s new man told LTFC+: “I want to excite the fans and get them off their seats, score goals and get assists and I feel, after speaking with the manager, that this is the place I can do that.
“This is an ambitious club, a massive club, with really passionate fans, and as soon as I knew this could be happening, I looked closely at the club and the squad, and it’s really strong.
“I’m also an ambitious person who wants to be playing and winning football matches – and play at the highest level. That’s why I chose Luton.”
Manager Matt Bloomfield added: “We are really excited to sign Shayden. He’s someone who has experienced League One football before as a young player at Fleetwood, and he’s gone on to prove himself in the Scottish Premiership with Aberdeen.
“He offers really good individual ability with his pace and dribbling, and will add some real thrust to our attack with one v one elements in the final third of the pitch.
“There has been a lot of work that has gone into the deal and we are really pleased to have him at our club. We can’t wait to get to work with him.”
The story so far
The pacey attacker was born in Newham and played youth football with Gideon Kodua.
However, he started his career in the academy at Southend before moving north to join Fleetwood in 2018 as a first-year scholar.
He made his senior bow for the Cod Army in the EFL Trophy in September 2019 and the following summer he penned his first professional contract.
His league debut came against Portsmouth in January 2021 and his first goal came in a 3-2 win over Cheltenham the following season.
After breaking into the first team at Fleetwood in 2021/22, he went on to sign for Aberdeen at the start of the following campaign.
Morris made his Dons debut against Motherwell in August 2022 and made 15 appearances in his first season in the Granite City. 19 games followed the following season but the last campaign was a real success for the winger.
He appeared in 49 league and cup matches for the Dons as they finished fifth in the Scottish top-flight, won the Scottish Cup – our new man whipping in the cross that led to the equaliser – and reached the semi-finals of the League Cup.
Now he arrives at Kenilworth Road with the ambition of helping the Hatters return to the Championship.
Welcome to Luton, Shayden!
