Hatters defender Sonny Bradley was full of praise for his teammates after they put midweek disappointment behind them to produce a fantastic performance and beat AFC Bournemouth.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall scored the only goal of the game in the second half against the ten-man Cherries, after Jefferson Lerma was sent off for an aerial challenge with Tom Lockyer in the 26th minute.

There was still plenty of work to be done despite the one-man advantage and the captain was very pleased the Hatters were able to make up for a below-par performance against Queens Park Rangers.

“It was massively important that we showed a reaction and with this group of players, I expected it.

“Obviously, it is a difficult game, they were in the Premier League last season, we knew it would be a difficult game and it doesn’t get much tougher than this in the Championship.

“But we were due a reaction because midweek wasn’t good enough. If you’re not good enough at this level, if you’re off it, you get punished and that is what happened.

“We went back to the drawing board, went back to basics and we worked on things. We didn’t have much time, no one does so that isn’t an excuse, but the gaffer put a plan together and the boys believed in it.”

It was the fourth time Town have won on the road in the Sky Bet Championship this season, of which on all four occasions the game has finished 1-0, a result Bradley describes as ‘the best result in football.’

But heading into a tricky period of away fixtures, the captain hopes the team can take this performance forward and build on that in the coming weeks.

“Of course, red cards change games we know that, and it did. I still feel in their mindset it didn’t change much, they still had a full press on which I was quite surprised about.

“We just had to be patient, we knew it was going to take time to break them down and early in the second half we could have had a couple in the first ten minutes.

“Then we got the goal, Kiernan gets the goal and he’s been outstanding for us over the last few months so I’m really proud of the performance we put in today. Hopefully now we can build on that and take that to Brentford.”
