Watch | Nathan Jones' pre-Manchester United press conference

Manager Nathan Jones said he and his squad will relish tomorrow’s highly anticipated Carabao Cup third round fixture against Manchester United.

The Hatters come into the game brimming with confidence off the back of four consecutive wins to begin the new season and will be looking to extend that 100 per cent winning record.

“It’s always a good occasion when you play Man United,” Jones said. “We would like these to be week-in, week-out occurrences. When we took over we always had that end goal in sight and we’re probably two steps closer than what we were when we took over, so it’s a big task to play against them as any Premier League side would say, but we’re going to relish the opportunity and hopefully we can give our best account of ourselves.”

The gaffer says it’s unlikely any player will play a full 90 minutes in the Man United and Watford matches, as well as playing days ago against Derby, saying: “We can’t think of sentiment in what we do.

“We said after we beat Reading last week, we came in a meeting on Thursday and de-briefed and said in terms of weeks for Luton Town, they don’t come much bigger than to play Derby at home, which we had the added spice of Wayne Rooney and being an ex-Premier League club. Then Man United at home, then our fiercest rivals in Watford – what a mad but great, great week to be a Luton Town player.

“That’s the motivation, not everyone will play three 90 minutes, I’m pretty convinced on that, so you have to use the squad. What we have to do is try and pick a team, pick an eleven that is going to be competitive and has a chance of winning all three games. That’s what we’ve got to make sure.

“However we change or mix it up, it might not be changing for this one, might be for Saturday so it will give me food for thought, but we have a good group. A group that is competitive and a group that’s on the front foot at the minute.”
