Watch | Luke Freeman's first words!

Midfielder Luke Freeman is relishing the opportunity to walk out onto the Kenilworth Road pitch on the home side after experiencing the ‘intimidating’ atmosphere as an opposition player.

Freeman played 45 minutes for Sheffield United in Bedfordshire last season and described it as a ‘very tough’ place to play as he sat down to discuss his move at The Brache earlier today.

“The fans are very close to the pitch which makes it very intimidating at times so hopefully it can carry on being a bit of a fortress for us.

“I’ve got a lot of stick over the last few years playing here so it will be nice to be on this side of the fence!”

Linking up with former player-coach Nathan Jones was high on his priority list after the two met at Yeovil Town in 2010 during his loan spell at Huish Park.

“We’ve always kept in contact over the years, and I think this is probably the third time he’s tried to sign me over the years, but it has never got past second base, as they say. As soon as the opportunity came to me, I jumped at it.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time here so far, the lads have been very welcoming as well so I’m looking forward to being a part of this successful journey.”

After injury prematurely ended his loan spell at Millwall during the second half of last season, the 30-year-old is fit and ready to play his part this term.

“I’m feeling good. I didn’t really stop over the summer, I kept myself ticking over and thank God it has paid off because I have come back in in decent enough shape.

“Hopefully I can add to the quality that is already here. The gaffer and the staff have done an unbelievable job over the last few years so hopefully I can help the team move in the right direction and maybe go one further this year.”
