Watch | Kal Naismith reacts to a point and clean-sheet against Reading

Kal Naismith reflected on a positive result that could have been more against Reading in the Sky Bet Championship last night.

The Hatters were held to a 0-0 draw against the Royals despite having the better chances on the night, but nevertheless, the point helped Town move into the top half which led to Naismith admitting the result was a good one.

“We had some great chances, some great breakaways and it was just the final pass or the finish that wasn’t there on the night. Lots of positives, we played really well against a top side and on another day, we might have won the game. We’re happy with the result, Reading are a top team and we kept a clean-sheet so we’re happy.

“After the Watford result and performance being so good, all the players’ confidence going into the game must have been high, I know mine was feeling good apart from being sore in the body after a tough game. There is no excuse, same for Reading, tough load of fixtures in the Championship but we were just looking forward to the game and I think it showed in the performance.”

Town were quick out of the blocks once again at Kenilworth Road, like they were against Watford, and Naismith admitted: “I think that is when we are at our best, on the front foot with loads of energy. This is a difficult place to come when I used to come with teams in League Two and that is what we’re about. When you come here you know you are in for a tough game, we’re going to run a lot, we’re going to work hard and then when it opens up, we have quality on the ball.”

Since captain Sonny Bradley has returned to the starting line-up the 29-year-old has moved to left-back and has continued to impress, supported by his involvement in the Sky Bet Championship team of the (mid)week!

“When I first signed I said it is the manager’s decision. He does what is best for the team, he always has my best interests but it is about the team and what gets the team results. If he thinks that is pushing me into left-back then he has been proved right. Not just my performances but the teams’ performances. Sonny has come back into that area and he has been outstanding and we have kept two clean sheets in the last two games.”
