The 35-year-old was brought back into the starting line-up after missing out at St Andrew's last week and made a positive impact on the game alongside Elijah Adebayo.

Reflecting on proceedings post-match, Jerome said:"First and foremost the win is more important, it means we leapfrog them and it was much needed after last weeks performance. We were all disappointed with our performance against Birmingham, especially because of the good run we have been on since the turn of the year."

"It is really important we got back to winning habits, especially at Kenilworth Road we know we will give anyone a game here. In the first half I don’t think we were as good as we can be but second half we really came into it and stamped our mark on the game.

After being denied by the post earlier in the match, his league breakthrough came ten minutes into the second half from a well-worked set-piece.

"It is something we’ve been working on in training. Kal has a lovely left foot, James Bree equally on his right foot. Either or it would have been a good delivery and the timing was perfect and it was a well-executed header by myself."

"The first goal of the game was always going to be crucial and once we got that, we grew in confidence and stature and you could see there was a little bit of disharmony in their team so it played into our hands. Fortunately we got the second goal as well, a fantastic finish from Allan Campbell."
