Young centre-back joins the Isthmian Premier Wings on a one-month loan

Young centre-back Vlad Paternoster has joined Isthmian Premier Division club Welling United on a one-month youth loan.

The 19-year-old defender, born in Milan but raised in England from the age of one, spent time in the academies at Tottenham Hotspur and Shrewsbury Town, and played for Hemel Hempstead Town in National League South, before joining the Hatters on trial in June 2024.

Since signing a professional development contract that summer, he has been a regular in Alex Lawless Town Under-21 side over the past two seasons.

After scoring in the first team's 8-1 friendly win over NK Triglav Kranj on the pre-season training camp in Slovenia last July, Vlad has featured on the bench in the Vertu Trophy this season, but has yet to make his competitive senior debut.

He joins a Wings side battling against relegation from Step 3 as they face a local derby at home to play-off chasing Dartford tomorrow.

Good luck at Park View Road, Vlad!
