Under-18s secure PDL Cup final place

Town youngsters secure place in final of the PDL Cup after 5-0 win over Bolton

18s

A five-star performance from the Under-18s booked their place in the final of the PDL Cup after a superb 5-0 semi-final victory over Bolton Wanderers at The Brache.

The Hatters led after eight minutes when Benny Benagr squared for Jamie Odegah to finish well into the bottom corner from six yards.

Odegah went close to double the lead moments later before Lucas Thomas needed to be alert to deny Bolton an equaliser.

But the Hatters did make it 2-0 shortly before the half-hour mark when Benagr cut inside onto his left foot to rifle home a shot from 15 yards.

As half-time approached Thomas once again kept out the visitors but the Town increased their lead before the interval when Benagr and Odegah combined to set-up Tate Xavier-Jones whose fine low finish made it 3-0.

The goals continued after the break and it was four on 54 minutes when Benagr scored his second, firing through the goalkeeper’s legs from 10 yards.

Nine minutes later the Hatters completed the scoring when Benagr drove upfield and set-up Odegah for his second of the afternoon to wrap up a comprehensive victory.

The Hatters’ prize will be a final against either Cheltenham and Swansea.

Congratulations to all involved!
