Tuesday night in Blackpool

Our official match preview for Blackpool away

Aerial view of Bloomfield Road

Luton Town have two games on the road this week, kicking off with a visit to Bloomfield Road to face Blackpool (Tuesday, 7.45pm).

Matt Bloomfield’s Hatters started the three-game week as they mean to go on with victory against Doncaster last Saturday.

Steve Bruce’s Tangerines have had an underwhelming start to the season, compounded with defeat at table-topping Bradford City on the weekend.

The opposition

It has been a tough start to the season for Blackpool, who sit in the relegation zone going into Tuesday night.

The Tangerines have only won two games so far this term, both coming at home against play-off hopefuls Huddersfield and Barnsley.

It is a big week for Blackpool, who also host AFC Wimbledon on Saturday and will want to bounce back from their defeat at Bradford.

What the managers said

Matt Bloomfield

“Saturday was just one game, but it felt massive for us because if it had gone the other way it wouldn’t have been pretty.

“We have to get ourselves back together, travel up to Blackpool as a group and stand shoulder-to-shoulder again on Tuesday evening and put on another display.

“If we can do that, we believe we can pick up some more points this week.”

Steve Bruce

“I’m pleased we have a game again on Tuesday so we can try to get back on the board again.

“When you get off to a poor start like we have, confidence can only come back into the team when they put some sort of run together.

“We need to go back-to-back with results and go a month without getting beat - it’s amazing what can happen after that, so that’s what we need to aim for.”

Last time we met

It was an Easter Monday to remember when we came from behind to beat Blackpool on our run to the Championship play-offs in 2023.

A Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu brace was backed up by top scorer Carlton Morris as we took all three points at Kenilworth Road.
