Bloomfield era begins on home soil

Our official match preview for Preston

A new era is set to begin at Kenilworth Road as Matt Bloomfield takes charge of his first Luton Town game in the Sky Bet Championship against Preston North End on Saturday (3pm GMT).

Bloomfield comes in to replace Rob Edwards, with the Hatters sat 20th in the Championship heading into the weekend.

Paul Heckingbottom’s Lilywhites have been on a positive run which has drifted them away from the bottom, losing just once in their last four league games and advancing to the fourth round of the Emirates FA Cup.

The opposition

Preston have had inconsistency with their results but come to Kenilworth Road on one of their best runs of the season, with three wins and one defeat in their last five in all competitions.

The visitors, who defeated us earlier in the season and also got to the Carabao Cup last 16 before being dumped out by Arsenal, have found a consistent run of results difficult to acquire until this point.

It has been a tough season for Preston on their travels, with just one Championship away win all season, which came in December at Cardiff – they have lost their last two since.

The key man for the Lilywhites is Danish striker Emil Riis (pictured), who has seven goals this season and set up Will Keane’s winner against us back in August.

How to follow live

Subject to availability, there are tickets still available to be with us on the day. These are on general sale to supporters with a previous purchase history and all Hatters members.

If you cannot join us and are following from overseas, you can watch the game live on LTFC+.

Not at Kenilworth Road and not based abroad? You can still listen to the match live with Simon Pitts or follow game updates on our dedicated Match Centre, which will appear on the website and app home page in the build-up to kick-off.

Officials

The referee for our fixture against Preston will be Tim Robinson.

66 yellow cards and one red card has been handed out by Robinson across his 14 games this season.

Eight of Robinson’s 14 fixtures have been in the Premier League, while four of them have been in the second tier.

Robinson last took charge of a Luton fixture when we shared the points with Everton at Kenilworth Road in May 2024.

Referee: Tim Robinson

Assistant Referees: Scott Ledger & Steven Meredith

Fourth Official: Thomas Kirk
